洗衣服是学生日常要做的一件事，一般来讲，学生每星期洗一次衣服。不过洗衣服倒也简单。只要去launderette(洗衣店)投点硬币(coins)就可以解决问题，有些洗衣店就叫做coinlaundry。当然如果学生是share一个house，即我们通常所指的别墅(这在国外非常普遍)，洗衣服往往可以在basement(地下室)里解决。通常各家都备有washer，或washing machine,另外，国外总有烘干机，所以还要知道dryer。洗衣服(do the laundry或do the washing)通常需要用!aundry detergent(洗衣粉)，这又是一个必备词汇。当然洗衣服时还要谈到一次洗多少的问题，比较好不要超过normal load。这个场景还可能谈到的东西是洗衣服时没有硬币(coin)T，没有laundry detergent T。另外还可能谈到的是洗衣机坏掉了(out of order)，或者不知何故洗衣机不工作了。I can't get the washing machine to work.此外还可能讨论到一些污渍(stain)是否能洗掉的问题，学生最担心洗不掉的可能是ink stain。一般等一会就可以洗好，如果要用main cleaning facility，那当天洗好可能就没有希望了。
