It Makes a Difference

One morning a young man was wandering along the beach when he saw a boy far away picking up something and very gently throwing it into the sea. He quickly paced towards him, surprised to find that the boy was picking up the starfishes which were washed ashore by the tide and throwing them back into the sea.

“Excuse me, why are you throwing the starfishes back into the sea?” He asked.

The boy replied, “Sir, you see the sun will soon rise and the tide will flow away. ”

“But don’t you think it is a waste of your time as there are miles and miles of beach and numerous starfishes still lying along it? Surely you can’t keep this act all day long. You can’t possibly make a difference! ”

The child ignored the young man’s remark. Then he picked another starfish and threw it into the sea, and said, “It makes a difference for that one. Would you like to join me? It would make a difference. ”

There is something very special in each and every one of us. We have all been given the ability to make a difference to shape the future. We must each find our own starfish. And if we throw our starfish wisely and well, the world will be better.

男孩没有理会他。然后他把另一只海星扔到海里，说：“对这只海星来说就起了作用。”

“你想加入我这里来吗?这很有意义。”

我们每一个人身上都有某种特别的东西。我们都被赋予了这种能力来发挥作用，塑造未来。我们大家都必须找到我们自己的海星。如果我们能明智又很好地扔出我们的海星，这个世界将会变得更加美好。
